What it is
Patent PreCheck is a web service that helps software developers assess patentability and prepare filing-ready materials. You submit code or a document and get scores for the USPTO requirements, the closest prior art it finds, and a read on human vs. AI authorship.
Who it is for
Software developers and inventors, including people who build with AI coding tools, who want a first read before they pay for an attorney. It also works inside coding tools through its integrations.

What it does not do
- It is not a law firm, patent agency, or legal services provider.
- It does not provide legal advice, patent opinions, or freedom-to-operate analyses, and using it forms no attorney-client relationship.
- A high score does not guarantee that a patent will be granted or that your work is protectable.
- Scores and analyses are not predictive of examiner decisions and should not be the sole basis for filing or not filing.
- The service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that any score or analysis will be accurate or complete.
How your code is handled
Free score
Your pasted text, uploaded file or GitHub selection is sent to our servers for analysis, including our AI scoring provider, and is not stored in our database after your score is generated. We do keep metadata: a SHA-256 hash of the input, the numeric score, a technology-domain hint, the request source and the time. Those rows are retained indefinitely. If you used GitHub import, repository, ref and path names may be kept with your report, but not file contents.
Paid review
The code you attach and your answers are stored for up to 30 days, encrypted at rest, then permanently deleted. Your scores, completion status and customer record are retained.
Your email and your data
If you give us your email, the score metadata is tied to it and is not anonymous. Unsubscribing stops email but does not delete the record. You can delete records from your account area or by emailing info@patentprecheck.com, and we process requests within 30 days. We do not sell your data, and we do not train AI models on it. Card details are handled by Stripe. The full detail, including the vendors involved, is in the privacy policy.
